Sanjay Lavakare made a career change from a 16-year IT job to focusing full-time on painting. His latest artwork is influenced by the distinctive features of Koramangala and draws inspiration from discussions with local residents. Previously a part of Bengaluru's IT industry, Sanjay realized his true passion was in art, leading him to transition into painting as a full-time pursuit. He declined the option of a sabbatical from his IT job, opting instead to follow his artistic ambitions. Sanjay has been a regular participant at the Chithra Santhe art event each year. Exploring the theme of Koramangala in his recent work, Sanjay was guided by insights from long-time neighbors Ashish and Ritu from L Street, who engaged local residents in identifying and listing 50-60 neighborhood-specific elements. The resulting painting showcases the essence of Koramangala, with some elements being more overt while others require closer observation to discern.
